System Monitoring

Commands for monitoring system resources and running processes.

top - Task Manager

View running processes and system resources in real-time:

top

Output shows:

  • System uptime and load average

  • Running tasks and CPU usage

  • Memory and swap usage

  • Process list (sorted by CPU usage by default)

Press q to exit.

btop - Advanced Resource Monitor

For a more detailed, interactive, and colorful interface, use btop:

ml btop
btop

Press Esc or q to exit.

Configuration

Customize appearance and behavior by editing the config file:

vim ~/.config/btop/btop.conf

Or press M (capital M) inside btop to open the options menu.
